"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: GHAZI AL-TALABANI'S CANDIES

Dr. AKEEM BROWN
HEAD OF STRATEGIC DEPARTMENT,
OPTIMUM FIDUCIARY AND SECURITY COMPANY
UK.
OUR PROPOSAL

***********************************************************************

Good day to you,

I am the head of strategic department and the personal account officer to a
great Investor (Ghazi al-Talabani), who had a deposit with My organization
here in the UK.

This deposit(a sealed Metalic box declared as photographic materials and
precious family belongings and this deposit has no other beneficiary) was
deposited in 2001 and has not been checked since May 2004, very unusual!
Realiable sources, after my investigation, revealed that the oil merchant
was killed on his way to work in June 2004 (visit
http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/meast/06/16/iraq.main/index.html). Until his
death there was no written or oral will. This deposit in question has been
unchecked since May 2004 and if I do not get rid of this deposit urgently it
will be forfeited for nothing since the company has been sold to a Bank in
Bahamas and will be fully handing over the management to the bank in April
2005, when i plan to retire.

No other person knows about the true contents of the box or any thing
concerning it besides myself and the head of the legal department who will
carry you along the process. He is presently concluding negotiations with
all departments we shall deal with during this transaction.

We intend to start with five Million, two hundred Thousand USD and upon a
successful conclusion without any disappointment from your side, the balance
will be moved. The total amount involved is USD11.2 M (Eleven Million, two
hundred thousand United States Dollars only). I am revealing this to you
with faith, that you will never let us down in this business. You have been
contacted as we believe you are capable in handling funds of this magnitude
unless you prove us wrong.

Please reply urgently so that details on the process will be sent to you in
time as we intend to move the first batch(5.2M usd) before the end of next
week. With my influence, all will be safely handled and well done. We have
to make hays while the sun shines to avoid this deposit from being written
off and auctioned.

Note that for a secured, smooth and professional conclusion, we cannot come
out openly at this time to lay claims hence we need your assistance, a
foreigner and a neutral hand. We believe you will understand the reasons!

With your effort and help, you shall be entitled to 30% of the total amount,
60% will be for us, 5% for charity and 5% for expenses that will be incured
during the process.
I shall forward to you all the details required on the receipt of your
reply to carry on this transaction with us.
I look forward to your prompt and favourable response. Send your response to
my private email account; akeem_brown2001@scenta.co.uk
