"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Will you marry me?

Hello dear,

I desperately need your help!
My husband, Alhaji Umaru Chanchangi died last month, leaving an estate worth over USD45 million to me. According to Sharia (Muslim law), I am the sole beneficiary of his wealth. But the local Imam (Chief) wants to forcefully marry me in order to inherit my husband's wealth, and because I am a woman, I am powerless to resist!

The Chief has given me 6 months to agree to be his wife or I would be killed! This is not an empty threat as the Imam is well known for his wickedness and meanness… He has buried 3 wives already and all the community live in abject fear… Being Muslims, we must submit to his will until he dies.

Being a wealthy woman, I secretly contacted an Attorney for advice and after studying the Holy Koran, and the Nigerian law as they relate to marriage and Inheritance, my Attorney advised me to seek a foreigner to "marry" and emigrate finally from Nigeria… This is not a difficult decision because I have no children, and I am willing and ready to leave Nigeria permanently…

Therefore the question is "Will you marry me?" Of course this WILL NOT BE A REAL MARRIAGE! But I need a marriage certificate from you in order to be able to legally transfer out my money total USD45 million to your nominated Bank Account. Therefore, if you agree to help me out of my ordeal and bondage, my Attorney will send you the Marriage Certificate to sign and I will become free! Once the money enters your nominated Bank account, I will secretly travel to meet you and take my money less 25% which you will keep as your share for helping me. Please bear in mind that the marriage Certificate will not be binding on you because it will state clearly that one of the parties is free at ANY TIME to opt out of the marriage contract which will effectively nullify the marriage contract. My Attorney advised me that this is a legal protection for BOTH parties, me and you! Therefore, the "marriage" will end the moment my money is safely transferred to your !
nominated Bank Account.

Another explanation is that it does not really matter if you are a woman! All my Attorney will require is a man's name and signature on the marriage certificate. No one will require your presence, or even your ID, Passport or any other identifying documents… You will remain completely anonymous… All we really need is your Bank Account to transfer the USD45 million! Will you help me? In the name of God!

May God bless you!

Regards,

Hajia Umaru Chanchangi (Mrs)
