"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: RE:INVESTMENT OPPURTUNITY

Greetings in the name of the lord. I hope this letter
meets you and your family in good health and it reaches you in GOD'S speed.
I would like you to read my mail very carefully
for it is not by misfortune or error that our paths have met,
enabling me to divulge my inner most secrets and my life's ambitions.
I have sent you this mail because i need your assistance to guide and
aid my mother and I into reaching the serenity and peace that
after our sufference, now wholly deserve.
As you read on you will most fully understand my plight.
First I must, by the grace of God, as this story unfolds
ask for your total confidence in this matter and I pray that
my decision to contact you will be given genuine approval and
what must be considered as a last resort for making my life and
dreams materialise.
Considering the facts that we have never met before,
I reverently have faith in the almighty, that he has guided me
to your attention for a reason.
I wish to use this opportunity to introduce myself to you. I am John
Malego from Liberia.
I write to let you know my desires of investing in your country.
I am the Last son of Mr Johnson Malego ,who was former
cabinet member in the ousted government Liberia.
My father was assignated by the rebels on his way
travelling to the Capital city along with my elder
brother and sister.
My sister and my elder brother died instantly,
while the UN Peace keeping force rescued my father,
he later died in hospital after some few days,
it was the saddest day of my life, and has never been
the same for my mother and myself.
The only comfort in this tragedy is that God allowed us to
be with him in his last hours.
This was when he revealed to me as the only surviving son
of the boxes containing a considerable amount of US dollars which he
had deposited with a security company for safe keeping. Presently, I
and my mother are in the Ghana seeking asylum .
Therefore I would be honoured if you could see it your way to educate
and grace me with the wisdom and knowledge you have acquired as to
how best we can invest this money. My father always told me right from
a young age, that money should not be invested in Africa.
He was always telling me that this was due to the economic and
political instability facing the vast majority of African countries.
This learned advice remains with me today, and is why I
feel most strongly about investing abroad.
It is very important that this money is released.
My mother is in a critical condition since the loss of our family and
she has not been the same since this dreadful event.
I desperately seek a good honest person to stand as a guardian for my
plight, realising that this may be to much of a request from a stranger and hope
that this is not beyond my expectations and yours.
For your assistance and guidance my mother and I have
agreed to offer and can honour any reasonable amount that you may
request.
We possess all the vital documents covering the deposit
and the ownership to support our claim.
NOTE: I have never disclosed this matter to anybody apart
from yourself,so you have to agree to keep this matter to
yourself with the utmost confidentiality
and secrecy.
My life and more importantly my mother's life depend on this.
May the spirit of God guide you.

Best Regards

John Malego.
