"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Your help is urgently needed

Dear Sir/Madam

My name is Okujiagu Stella and I have a new born baby {12 weeks old} named Hope. She means the world to me as she is all I have for now and the doctors has discovered that she has brain cancer. Unfortunately my husband died in the last plane crash enroute Abuja from Portharcourt that occured in Nigeria in December of 2005. The hospital bills have been put at US$30,000 and all I've got at the moment is just US$19,680.

I am appealing to you to please help me in anyway you can as my husband's relatives have totally neglected us. The hospital is suggesting a specialist is brought in to minimise cost, the other alternative is to fly her out together with myself but there is no money to even make a choice.

This is the only medium I have left to source for money to carry out this treatment as all people

I have met are not forthcoming with any help.

Your prompt response is highly appreciated as time is running out on us.

Mother in despair,
Mrs. Okujiagu Stella
