"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

Subject: Mr. Roy J. Ashe

Dear Ashe,

Happy New Year and remain bless.

I do not know you personally but I am writing you this email base on trust
and sincerity of my heart and absolute trust that you will understand this
matter and the need of assisting me over this issue As I am a Nigerian
citizen with a God fearing looking for an honest Person to move along in
this matter with all the diligence.

My name is Mr. Francis Williams; I was a good friend to Late Mr. Roy J.
Ashe, a national of your country, who until his death has no wife nor son or
daughter to claim his funds hence he died here. He was a Contractor and has
spent most of his life in my country Nigeria.

Mr. Roy J.Ashe were involved in a motor accident along Ontisha/Benin Road
and unfortunately lost his life on the 27th day of September 2006. Since
then I have made several enquiries to your country Embassy to locate any of
my friends extended relatives, this has also proved unsuccessful hence: he
has no next-of-kin at the time of his death.

After these several unsuccessful attempts to trace any Member of his
immediate family hence I contact you. I am contacting you to assist in
repatriating the assets and Capital valued at US$5.5million left behind by
my friend before it gets confiscated by the Bank where these huge deposits
are.

The said Bank in Nigeria has issued me a notice to provide the next of Kin
or have the Treasury bill confiscated since I was the only known and close
associate they know. Since I have been unsuccessful in my efforts locating
any of my friend's relatives for the past few Months now, I seek your
consent to present you as the Next of kin to my late friend since you have a
similar last name with him so that the proceeds of this treasury bill can be
paid to you rather than been confiscated by the Bank as the maturity of
payment of this fixed amount have come and gone living the money in the
custody of the Bank without any direction of use, this have caused the Bank
to have an eyebrow since they found out that my late friend is dead, I have
been living under anxiety and pressure as I know this fund can turn my life
around if I can find a sincere partner to team up with and have our mind
focused in this cause so that I can have this fund secured and transferred
out to your account fast to avoid confiscation by the Bank or declaring the
fund unserviceable.

Therefore, on receipt of your positive response and full indication vividly
to work with me to actualize this issue, we shall then discuss the sharing
ratio and modalities for claim. I have all the necessary information as what
to do in this regards for proper commencement of this claim.

All I require from you is your honest cooperation to stand firmly and proper
confidentiality of this issue to you only to avoid security lapses which can
be very anti to this very issue, maturity of the mind is what matters in
this case to take your decision whether to embark or not in this than
consultation of parties into this issue is not welcomed as I explained. I
guarantee and vow that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement
that will protect you and me from any breach of the law. You can call me on
this phone number: +234 8030555072.

I wait to hear from you soon.

Best regards,

Francis Williams
