"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

I am Patrick Lane,a solicitor at law here in South Africa.I am the attorney to the late Randolf Williams who worked as an independent oil magnate here in my country South Africa he died in a car crash with his immediate family on the 4th of Feb,2006. Since the death of my client in Feb,2006, I have written several letters to the embassy with an intent to locate any of his extended relatives whom shall be claimants/beneficiaries of his abandoned Consignment presently in the custody of a security company here in my country which contains the sum of $5,000,000.00 (five million US dollars and all such efforts have been to no avail.

On this note i decided to search for a credible person who will help me stand as the next of kin to my late client , I was urged to contact you that I may with your consent, present you to the Security company as my late client's surviving family member so as to enable you put up a claim of the consignments as a next of kin of my client. I was at the last burial rite to pay my final respect to Late client and his family .There I made thorough inquiries about his relatives but, discovered no one really knows about this consignment been deposited in the security company.

Owing to the fact that his wife and daughter whom should have stand a better chance of claiming this consignments containg this fund also perished in that fatal car crash,I want you to stand in as the next of kin to late Mr.Randolf Williams .Like I earlier asserted,I have in my possession the necessary documents that will enable me to place you in,as the right beneficiary to my late client's fund in this firm.As personal lawyer to my late client, I cannot in any way claim it unless someone overseas does so. Just two weeks ago, I received a routine notification from the security company concerning this consignment, and the officials of this company issued a warning, stressing the urgency for late Mr. Randolf,s relative or next of kin to come forward to claim this consignments containg the funds immediately or they will have it confiscated as an unclaimed consignments. This is the agreement they have reached at the company and they also reiterated that this is according to the
company,s guidelines.Be informed that upon recieving of the consignments, you shall have 35% as your share, 5% for any expences that may be incure during the course of this transaction then 60% for me . I must remind you that trust and transpirency must be our watchword in the course of this transaction. I will discuss with you in details when I receive your response.

Please include the following in your reply.
(1.)Your Name in full.
