"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Sir, My email to you refers. Your reply was just received .I am Mr. Muhammad Atiku Abubakar, The son of The Vice President of Federal Republic of Nigeria. As the chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund in Nigeria , my father used his position and entered into a lot of oil deals both in Nigeria and other African countries. As the political climates heats up in Nigeria and my father is warming up to contest as the President of Nigeria come April 2007 to take over from President Olusegun Obasanjo as they previously agreed. This move is not going down well with the incumbent President, Chief Obasanjo, because he wants to continue in office for three consecutive times which is not enshrined in the constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria. He decided to set up tribunals in the names of Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and code of conduct tribunal to work against my father’s political ambition. Now, my father has been declared corrupt by these tribunals and impeachment procedures have been going on against my father. All our family members including him have been placed under surveillance and told by the government not to move out of Nigeria . I was out of Nigeria when this started and I am presently seeking refuge in Jakarta-Indonesia. My father’s bank accounts and properties have been ceased and confiscated by the GovernmentBefore this time my father had deposited the sum of $10million with a bank in London , This money was meant for his Presidential campaign, Now If the federal government discovers this money they will cease it hence I decided to work out arrangements to move the money out. Now I need your assistance to move the money to a safe account or location. As you can understand, presently we are in very tight situation, I cannot do anything myself as the government are searching for me as his son believing that I must know so much about my father’s hidden properties or funds outside our country, Therefore, you will receive the fund as our trustee. I have worked out 30% of the amount for you and, 10% kept aside for all expenses and the remaining 60% is what we are going to invest in your country. Having obtained your contact in my search for capable and reliable partner, we have prayed about it which we know that you will not disappoint us. I want this money to be moved out for investment under your care without any further delay. Do contact me as soon as you received this letter for any further information that you need to know. Kindly send me your private phone and fax numbers. My email address is(muhammad_a_abubakar@excite.com)=Phone: 62-81808844454 Vice President Atiku Abubakar flees Nigeria for possible arrest?
