Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Compliment of the day. I know this email will come to you as a surprise since we have not met, permit me however to introduce myself to you. I am Mr. E. Tipton, based in the UK, Father to late Captain John E. Tipton who died while serving with the American forces in Iraq. My family have gone through a very rough time, my son, Late Captain John E. Tipton's death benefit money was stolen in an investment swindle when I sought to invest the money towards the education of Captain Tipton's children and answered a fraudulent newspaper advert. The perpetrator of this most despicable crime was given a slap on the wrist with no penalties by the Okaloosa County court on 11/20/2006 and though a small fraction of the money was recovered, the majority of the Captain Tipton's death benefit money is gone forever as the thief falsely claims to be indigent. The thief was arrested by the Okaloosa County Sheriff's office on 32 felony charges for numerous swindles but she beat all 32 charges without going to trial through an unprecedented amount of pre trial objections, motions and depositions that wore down the Okaloosa County Court, victims and witnesses. It is very sad for my family that the Okaloosa county court has given a swindler and operator of houses of prostitution precedence over a highly respected and missed fallen war hero. Something is very wrong as the thief has been quoted as bragging that she has judges in her pocket and that she (apparently) rules the Okaloosa County Court. As a father to a late marine, my late son did inform me of a huge opportunity of wealth he kept out of the knowledge of the authorities. This has to do with funds recovered during the raid on the iraq central bank. Among the money boxes recovered, my son hid one of such boxes in a storage house out of iraq, just as some other colleaques did.
