"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

Email: yyadams1@yahoo.com

I retired from projects section with the Nigerian Niger Delta Development Commission (N.D.D.C). As the projects coordinator during this time I was responsible for deliberate inflating of some projects which I had agreed with a certain foreigner and businessman on commission to front him as beneficiary of some funds which was registered in his name. The deposit with a financial institution is worth Seven Million Five Hundred Thousand 7,500.000.00 GBPS (about $15m United States Dollars) . I must be quick to inform you that the funds came up from crude oil revenues allocated for refinery rehabilitaion and other multidimentional projects spanning into hundreds of million dollars .

Eventually, before we could file application for payment , thesame expatriate busienssman who worked as a technical contractor at the N.M.A lost his family on their way to Lagos from Abuja in a fatal air crash, and few years later he also gave up at a UK hospital as a result of numerous ill health complications resulting from this tragic loss of entire family in the crash. Before his death, Since I am the only one who knows about the deposit, I went to the security and Finance firm tried to make the claim and was told that the only person who can claim this money is his NEXT OF KIN and I should present such person with legal backing to enable them release the funds.

Since all his family died at the accident, all effort to trace his next of kin proved abortive. Therefore, I am writing to you so that I can make you the beneficiary without trouble . This is because I have been told that immediately I present/register the deceased next of kin or associate partner, the money would be processed , approved and released to the person within 14 days . Be informed that your gratification for assisting me to claim this money shall be 40%; while the remaining 60% shall be mine.
Please do not see this as a wrong doing but I see it as an opportunity to plan for a better and sustainable future in the face of all threatening global economic down turn . In my next e-mail, I shall give you detail explanation on how the project will be executed. Meanwhile, acknowledge the receipt of this mail immediately and include your personal and direct telephone/fax numbers for easy communication.
Yours sincerely
