"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Greetings,

I have been asked to email you by Agent Christopher Harp of the FBI who is on contract with the National Lottery. I received some documents and check to be mailed to you. As you must have been told, these documents and check are to be mailed at your expense. I have been mandated to use the London Postal Service for patriotic reasons. These documents are of high value and cannot be risked or compromised. The London Postal service is safe and secure. You can trust it.

Please, be informed that the London Postal Service does not deliver to Post Office Boxes (P.O.Box) or street corners but to your residence.

These documents are of high value and cannot be risked or compromised. The National Lottery has mandated that insurance cover be placed on the documents to be sent to you.

Currently, the London Postal Service does not operate on C.O.D(Cash On Delivery).  Below is the mandatory delivery charge that you are required to pay to enable the London Postal Service courier your parcel to you:

Courier charges ............................... ¨30.00

Administrative ...................................¨10.00

Insurance ........................................... ¨20.00

TOTAL: GBP ¨60.00 = USD$100

USD$ means United States Dollars.

[PLEASE CHOOSE ONE DELIVERY OPTION THAT BEST SUITS YOU]

The charges are a little high because of the insurance cover taken incase of loss, damage or theft of your highly sensitive document before it gets to you. The London Postal Service assumes all responsibilities incase of any eventualities.

You are to choose only one of the delivery options above and make payment. Payments are to be made via WESTERN UNION MONEY TRANSFER or MONEYGRAM MONEY TRANSFER so as to speed up the process of delivery. The payment should be made in my name with the information stated below:

Name:  James Hollis

Address:  89 Marylebone High Street, London W1U 4RY, United Kingdom .

Scan and send the moneygram or western union transfer slip/receipt via email to me. If you do not have a scanner, email me the following information:

1. Name and Address of Sender

2. 10-digit Money Transfer Control Number (MTCN) for western union or 8-digit reference number in the case of Moneygram

3. Test Question and Answer, if any.

When sending the payment details, Please change the subject of your email to ' Western Union sent' so that I would attend to it immediately as I have many mails coming in. I have attached a copy of my Identity card for your security.

Please note that the symbol ¨ means Pounds Sterling not United States Dollars.

A dispatch notice indicating the date and time of departure and expected date and time of delivery will be sent to you once payment is received. You will be required to sign for the parcel personally with a copy of your international passport or your driver's license as identification.

All packages not sent out within Three (3) working days from this communication will be returned to Agent Christopher Harp as unclaimed.

Respectfully Yours,

James Hollis

The National Lottery.
