"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

After studying briefly on your profile, I write to inform you that I am Dr. Chuma Nwafor of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, working as a financial consultant and Adviser of the Ministry of Finance, Nigeria.

Briefly, I am meant to contact you through the advice of Senator George Nnamani, serving as a senator of the Federation, over his ambitions to invest in abroad, immediately after his tenure in office. He has instructed me to look for a reliable foreign alliance that can stand on his behalf and handle the investment program without betraying, hence I contact you. He told me he has $34.2million in a private account, that this fund will be used for this venture.

I will process the release and transfer of this fund to your possession and you will be entitled to 16% of the said funds deposited in abroad. I have decided not to add more information in this e-letter for security reason, but immediately you get back to me with your contact details I will inform you on how this could be concluded in a couple of days and I will fly to your country to meet with you face to face.

All you are require of is to indicate your readiness and interest to co partner in this investment, upon the receipt of your confirmatory note all modalities on how to proceed with me will be discussed because all confirmable documents to back up this transaction shall be made available to you by the senator. It is therefore pertinent that you send the following information to me as you acknowledge the good receipt of this message via my private email address: drchumanwafor.nig@hotmail.com
