"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: VERY URGENT...15/03/2013

Dear sir/madam,

This mail might come to you as a surprise because you don't know me, but please do not ignore my request and its contents. My name is Mr. John Juan. I am an Independent Human Right Activist based in Cotonou, Republic of Benin. One Ms Doukre Ahmed, an orphan from Libya who was adopted by late President of Libya, Col. M. Gaddafi told me in strict confidence that she inherited the sum of $75million from the late President. She also said that the fund is deposited in the vault of a security and finance company in Europe in her name as a reward for her loyal service to the late President.

Consequently, she has saddled me with the task of getting her a reliable and trustworthy person who could retrieve the funds from the security and finance company on her behalf for investment placement. She said that she is ready to part with 15% of the funds to whoever is willing to assist her. This is why I am sending this message to you, seeking your intervention and urgent assistance to this orphan who is presently taking refuge here in Cotonou, Republic of Benin.

If you would like to assist her, please indicate your interest by telling me who you are, what you do for a living and the type of investment that will be
profitable for her.

I look forward to receiving your earliest reply.

Best regards.

Yours sincerely,
Mr. John Juan
