"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From: "Sandra MacKenzie" (may be fake)
Date: Sat, 7 Dec 2013 00:23:27 -0500
Subject: Urgent message from Yokosuka Prison facility

My name is Sandra MacKenzie, former Paramedic Officer in the US Military Base in Okinawa, Japan; and currently an inmate (prisoner) at Yokosuka Prison, about 50 miles south of Tokyo.

Weeks after arriving at the US Military Base in Okinawa, my Commanding Officer made illegal sexual advances to me which I refused on principle. He promptly set up a military Court-martial and had me jailed for 2 years for “conduct unbecoming of a military / Para military personnel”. This was fabricated and pure fiction but I was powerless to do anything other that face my fate… But, I intend to bring up charges against him in a US Court after my release.  I was sent to serve my sentence in the Yokosuka Prison facility, about 50 miles south of Tokyo. I am due to be released on 03-03-2014.

Prison life has been very stressful, and though my release date is fast approaching, I still have problems sleeping and often have nightmares. Since I have no family, my doctor recommended that I join the social media and chat with people. But, I think I need a matured man in my life! Can we chat so that I can prepare for a normal life after prison? I have attached a picture of me to help you decide if you wish to have a relationship with me…If you are interested, please send me your picture and I will respond with a feast of pictures!
