"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Some comments by the Scam-O-Matic about the following email:

This email uses a separate reply address that is different from the sender address. Spammers use this to get replies even when the original spam sending accounts have been shut down. Also, sometimes the sender addresses are legitimate looking but fake and only the reply address is actually an email account controlled by the scammers.

First and foremost i must introduce myself to you i am Commissioner David Ofori Newly appointed Head of Custom Exercise and Preventive Services Kotoka International Airport Accra Ghana.

Following the recent extortion going on in our Boarders, Wharfs and Airports in Ghana, the Ghana custom exercise & preventive services has made it a mandatory that unclaimed consignments in the Kotoka International Airport will not be released to any person who will claim to be a representative, Lawyer, relative or in-law to a beneficiary/owner of any consignment in the custom’s long room here in Kotoka International airport.

This order was given by the President of our nation Ghana his excellency Hon.John Attah Mills due to complaints coming from foreigners who claimed that criminals defrauded them in the pretest that they will assist them release their consignments in the custody of Kotoka International Airport.

The Head of Ghana custom exercise & preventive services have approved and signed that all concern foreigners that have unclaimed consignments in the Kotoka International Airport must come to Ghana and make claim of their consignments otherwise the consignments will remain in the Kotoka Airport as any amount of money paid to receive the consignment on behalf of any beneficiary/owner of consignment in the Kotoka Airport is fraud. All unclaimed consignments are signed to be released to the beneficiaries but must undergo normal processing of release.

We apologize for the inconveniences this will cause beneficiaries of consignment in the Kotoka airport who intend to appoint their business partners, friends, lawyers of relatives to represent them to receive or ship their consignments in the Kotoka International Airport and advice the public to deceits the act of impersonation in our boarders, wharfs and airports.

During our inspection we discovered two Metallic trunk boxes with your name, email address and Phone Number tagged on it that is why I am contacting you is to send me your delivering address as stated below on how we can make the delivery fast. President John Evans Attah Mills has given me the Power of Attorney to deliver all consignments in the Kotoka airport warehouse to beneficiary and Owners without further delay to enable our country Ghana bear a Good name and free from Fraudulent activities and if you want me to send you my identification with Power of Attorney giving to me by the President of Ghana I will.
