"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Esteemed Customer,

Be informed that, your none compliance to the Bank's directives/policies which are inline with the International Monetary Transactions policies to claim this approved payment now make us start suspecting with no doubt that, we may have contacted you in error to claim this approved payment.

Since you cannot:

1. Come to Nigeria to sign off and claim your ATM MasterCard with all your account documents.

2. You don't want to pay either US$150 only for ordinary courier shipment and delivery or US$550 for Insured shipment and delivery of your ATM MasterCard with all your account documents.

3. Refused to tender the required documents for the activation/validation of the none resident US dollar U-Direct Lion the Prime account which we set up in your name so that you will have access to your account through our website website: https://www.ubadirect.com to transfer your funds electronically at zero COT through the United Bank for Africa Inter-Switch Transfers platform to any Bank account of your choice at any time.

4. You are not ready to pay the Cost of Transfer (COT) of your funds SWIFT transfer to your designated account since we are prohibited from deducting any cent of dollar from the principal amount.

5. You are not also ready to secure a permission from the National Deposit Insurance Commission (NDIC) for us to deduct the COT fee since we are prohibited from deducting any cent of dollar from the principal amount.

Since you have declined all processes but want the money released to you at the expense of the Bank, we have no other option than to belief you are not the rightful beneficiary of this payment. Maybe this payment was wrongly or fraudulently approved in your name or we contacted you in error for the claim, otherwise you would not dictate for the bank to release such huge amount of money without complying to the International Monetary Transactions policies.

Therefore, we will go ahead to declare this payment unclaimed, close the established U-Direct account, revoke this approved payment indefinitely and returned the funds into our coffers in the next 48 hours.

Yours sincerely,

Mr. Phillips Oduoza (CEO)
Group Managing Director/Executive Director,
Member of Board Risk Committee,
Member of Finance & General Purpose Committee
United Bank for Africa Plc.
