"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From Mrs Mariam Almaleek

Dear brother

My name is Mrs Mariam Almaleek, I have been suffering from ovarian cancer disease and the doctor says that i have just few time to leave. I and my late husband (MR. JAMAL ALMALEEK) are from Bahrain but we based in Ivory Coast, West Africa since ten years ago before he died in auto crash 3 years ago.

My husband was an influential businessman dealing with gold exportation from West Africa to Europe and Dubai.
Before his untimely death, he had deposited the sum of $6,900,000 (Six Million Nine Hundred Thousand US Dollars) in a bank here and i want to entrust this fund into your hands to be use to set-up a foundation in my late husband`s name to be helping the less privileged in your country.

If I chose to contact you is because, I wish that this operation is done in utmost discretion without too much publicity because I lost my husband for over 3 years now and unfortunately we did not have a child together, I have no one to whom to leave my legacy to, this is the reason why I wanted to give out this money to you for humanitarian purpose.

As soon as i hear from you that you are competent to execute my desire, i will establish contact with you and the bank management to make the immediate transfer into your account.

Regards,

Mrs. Mariam
