"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From Barclays Bank Group Chairman.

Dear Valuable Customer,

Acting on the capacity of the original Bank appointed by the World Financial Governing Authorities to handle payment of your overdue debt. I wish to refer to my several email messages reminding you again and again that release of your fund to you is in progress and the cash is available now to be released to you through our affiliate branch in New York upon payment of the official charge only.

I want to put it to you that you are the one currently causing delay in completing your fund transfer now that the cash is available and all the concerned agencies and institutions has given their consent, hoping that you have not given up your payment.

Finally, you are requested for the last time to indicate your interest to receive your payment by paying as soon as possible the final official charges so that we can close your file here and transmit your payment data to our affiliate branch in New York for remittance of your fund to your nominated bank account locally or via ATM Debit Card, now that the money is available to pay to you.

Looking forward to hearing from you as soon as possible if you are still willing to receive your funds.

Sincerely,

Nigel Higgins, (Group Chairman),
