"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

This letter might come to you as a surprise because we have not met before either in person nor by correspondence. I got your contact through a discreet inquiry through the internet after my prayers which gave me big courage to email you in regards to this proposal.

I am Alfred Taylor, the son of the deposed president of Liberia, former African colony of the United States of America. I am making this contact to you based on the fact that I need your aid to relocate to a safe haven where my father's personal funds US$20.600.000 only (Twenty Million, Six Hundred Thousand United States dollars Only) all deposited in one big galvanized box in a financial institution which shall be later disclosed to you upon your offer of acceptance.

We have been granted safety by the Ecowas Community and the Nigerian government by a meeting held with the Presidents of ecowas countries including nigeria on the 10th of March , 2004 at the just concluded Leon Sullivan summit held in Nigeria, based on their resolution we have been offered political asylum which will confine us to it's shores for the rest of our lives in the federal republic of Nigeria by it's president.

What you may hear of my father should you decide to verify may not be of a good report but he has learnt his lessons the hard way, all I am doing now is for the sake of my mother and my two sisters of which I pray that God will not let us suffer the sins of my father. Based on your solicited assistance my mother and I are prepared and willing to consider the percentage you'll want to have from the money for aiding us in this matter and will welcome your abilities. Upon my arrival in Nigeria I will provide you with a phone line in which I can easily be reached, as it is not often convenient for me to make or take calls from my place of confinement now.

More information will be communicated to you as soon as you indicate your readiness and the modalities for the movement of the funds , then I will be coming over for a short time brake to meet with you for a detailed discussion on what and how to invest the funds upon your confirmation on the receipt of the funds.

I anticipate your prompt and committed response through my personal email as stated above. I urge you to establish cordial contact/relationship with me. You will understand that I am not a stranger as such to you but someone designated to fly the colours of life together with you base on your kind advice.

Sincere wishes and best regards,

Alfred Taylor
