Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Subject: need your help

Sir/Madam,

Please I have come to you not as a stranger but as a friend, and it is in
this mutual friendliness that I ask you for help. I have done this on what
appears to be sufficient reasons and yet I think there are some things in
regard to which I should let you know.

Before I go on, may I briefly introduce myself to you, I am Jewel Robert
Howard Taylor, the ex-wife of former president of Liberia, who was dethroned
from office some 10 months ago, precisely on the 10 of August 2003.
Due to my husbands rebel activities and my objection to that, I was marked
an ark enemy by his other wives and relations who do not want to see my
existence and that of my children. They took all all I acquired during my
reign as the presidents wife, and as a minister.

Right now, I am in a hideout on the run for my dear life and that of my
children, I was able to move with me my personal funds and some valuable
which I had kept in a vault with a security company, they are 14.4 Million
US Dollars, some Gold and Diamond stones.

What I ask of you is to aid me in relocating this fund to a safe place where
I can relocate and live a better live with my children
What you may hear of my husband should you decide to verify may not be of
a good report but he has learnt his lesson the hard way and what I do now
I do for the sake of my two daughters and son whom I pray to God in order
not for them to suffer for the sins of their Father.

I am prepared and willing to consider your price for aiding me in this matter
and will welcome your conditions to the best of my abilities, also I will
provide you with a phone line in which I can be reached as it is not possible
for me to make long distance calls from my place of confinement except I
do it a few blocks away if the necessary need arises.

Please do not take this mail as whole lot of joke; your positive decision
towards this proposal will go a long way in saving some endangered lives.
