"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: hello

Hello,

I hope this mail reaches you in good health and state of mind, this mail
directed to you might seem unwanted for a person that you do not know,
let me start my introducing myself ,I am Mary Ajala a banker and a humamaniterian
working presently in South Africa.I have plans that if executed we will
through it heal the entire human race and that will also change our lives
, Let me start like this - Our bank regulation makes it that if no one comes
up as next of kin to claim a dead client's fund after four years the bank
authourity has the right to declare the money a public fund which will then
be used to sponsor war in Africa ,what an EVIL when so many countries of
the world are living with HIV/AIDS millions are poor and hungry .

Presently, we have a fresh case of this great EVIL AND WICKEDNESS against
humanity ,now the decision making body of my bank has delegated 2 of us
from the bank to locate the next of kin of the client Mr Jones Williams
who before his death in a plan crash had a total balance of $4.2 million
USD. (Four million, two hundred thousand dollers) in his account and now
the time given to us to locate his next of kin is fast running out and to
make sure this fund is not used to sponsor wars, as humaniterians and christians
we have decided to arrange with an honest and dependable foreigner to stand
as the next of kin to make sure this fund is secured and properly used
by allowing us to transfer this money into your account .

However, I and my collegue are members of a national nonprofit, community
based organization working to end the AIDS epidemic. Our mission is to Inform
people living with HIV, their caregivers and their healthcare and service
providers about the reserch, treatment and monitoring of HIV disease; Advocate
to facilitate research towards a cure and for appropriate regulatory policies, legislation
and funding for HIV research, treatment and care; and Inspire people to
make informed choices, take effective action in the fight against HIV and
choose hope over despair. How we help Africa now is a test of our ability
to prevent failing states that threaten our security, and even more important,
a test of our humanity, and our willingness to respond to the moral crisis
of our time.
HIV/AIDS in Africa also affects agriculture and food supplies because more
and more rural Africans are contacting HIV/AIDS. HIV/AIDS is also causing
an increasing number of African children to become orphans. Government organizations,
church groups, humanitarian organizations, and private foundations from
all parts of the world have responded by trying to prevent the spread and
occurrence of new HIV/AIDS cases through education and alleviating the damage
already done to the economy and to African children. The response to HIV/AIDS
in Africa has also focused to a lesser extent on the treatment of those
who have already contacted HIV/AIDS. The cost of medication and the lack
of medical personnel in Africa have made providing treatment a challenge.

Currently more than 11 million children in Africa have lost at least one
parent to HIV/AIDS; that number is expected to reach 20 million by 2010.

In sub-Saharan Africa, there are currently 4.1 million people with AIDS
who are in immediate need of life-saving anti-retroviral drugs (ARVs). At
the end of last year, only an estimated 50,000 of these people were able
to take these drugs.

The Joint United Nations Programme on HIV/AIDS (UNAIDS) estimates that
at the end of 2003 there were between 25 and 28 million people living with
HIV/AIDS in Sub-Sahara Africa, and around 470,000 living with HIV/AIDS in
Northern Africa. According to UNAIDS, approximately 58% of those infected
in Africa are women. In seven African countries more than 20% of the population
has HIV/AIDS. AIDS is the leading cause of death in Africa, recently surpassing
malaria.

However, we have decided to use 60% out of the fund when transfred into
your account to sponsor reserch on the cure ,management of HIV/AIDS and
to help the poor while 40% will be shared amoung us to take care of any
expences incured by any of us during the transfer of the money into your
account. Waiting to hear from you.

Regards,

Mary Ajala
