"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

URGENT BUSINESS ASSISTANCE

ATTN: THE DIRECTOR,

I do foresee the surprise this letter will bring to you as it comes from a
stranger. But be rest assured as it comes with best of intentions. However,
your address was courtesy of a business journal at the world trade center in
Johannesburg South Africa. But after due considerations from your profile, I
became aware and assured of your credibility of handling and co-operation in
this transaction, as it will be beneficial to all of us involved.

My name is MRS. AISHA KABILA from Democratic Republic of Congo, now residing
in the Republic of South Africa (Johannesburg) due to the death of my
husband. I am the second wife of late LAURENT KABILA, the former president
of DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC OF CONGO (DRC) who was killed by his bodyguard
recently. If you are conversant with public issues you must have heard the
news from CNN.

After the death of my husband, his attorney called me and narrated to me how
he and my husband deposited the sum of US$18 MILLION (Eighteen Million
United States Dollars) with a reputable security company here in
Johannesburg, South Africa. He also showed me all the documents related to
his deposited money as proves of deposit, which no other person or the first
wife and her son who is now the President of DRC knows about it. It is only
the attorney and my husband that knows about this money.

However, My aim of contacting you is to help me and my son to take this sum
into your nominated bank account in your country or any other part of the
world. Secondly, you will also help us to invest this money profitably in
your country. As a result of my present situation, being that I am very
sick, I won’t be able to conclude this transaction alone. If you are
interested in helping me and my son, try to contact me or my son MR. JOHNSON
KABILA very urgently with the above Tel / Fax numbers indicating your
interest in helping us. I will then furnish you with more details. We have
in mind to compensate you with 20% of the total sum, while 10% of the fund
will be used for expenses in the cost of this transaction. Meanwhile the 70%
will be for my family, which we will invest in your country under your
supervision.

Be informed that this transaction needs utmost trust and confidentiality.
Note also that this transaction attracts no risk on your side hence all the
modalities for safe, smooth and successful transaction have been arranged by
me and my son.

Looking forward to receiving your urgent reply.

God bless you.

Yours Truly

MRS. AISHA KABILA.
