"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear friend,

I am Director in the Directorate Health Financing and Economics Department of Health, South Africa.

I write to solicit your assistance in a project of mutual benefit.

In January 2002, a construction grant for the building of mental health institution funding of US$15 Million was allocated by National Treasury in Budget 2002.

The construction has since been concluded (specifically in December 2003).The sum of US$5 Million given as mobilization for the construction purpose, completed the project eventually leaving a balance of US$10 Million.

I am contacting you with a view that you can provide a safe haven for the balance of this funds that is presently unpaid. I am on this alone and have used my position to manipulate the funds to my favour. I have put in over 25 years of my life into working for the
government and as a civil servant I do not have anything to show for it, hence I see this opportunity as a God-Sent one. I sincerely hope that you will be of assistance to me.

I implore you to treat this mail as confidential as possible as I am still serving, though I intend to retire in the first quarter of next year.

Please reach me on my email asap and if you are not in a position to assist me, do not respond to this mail and I apologize for taking your time.

Best regards,

Mr.Vishal Brijlal
