"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear Sir,

My name is Minister. Dele Goki I was the former vice Chairman of Petroleum Trust Fund (P.T.F) which was dissolved by the current Democratic President of Benin Republic. I like what your company is into.

Actually I acquired some money during my time in the office as vice chairman of the then Petroleum Trust Fund (P.T.F). The said money is amounted to the tone of US$190m (one Hundred and Ninety Million United State Dollars).

Which I deposited in a Security Company for save keeping I have been paying for the demurrages incurred by the money for the past a year which I felt is not profitable for me.

I would like to invest in your company not minding going into partnership with you or you introduce me to some other lucrative and profitable business in your country for me to invest my money.

If we can arrive at a proper memorandum of understanding I will furnish you with more details regarding this transaction.

The sharing pattern would be profitable for both of us.
