"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear sir/madam,

it is quite absurd that i should be contacting you by email for the proposal
i have, especially, in this era of unending unsolicited mail more so, when
we have neither met nor spoken before. Please pardon the means of communication.
I got your email address from the chamber of commerce and industry and also
from the international stock exchange commission directory. Further run
of your profile indicated an impeccable record which prompted my choosing
to contact you.

I am Mr. Wilson ar-Rahmani a stock broker with the Stock Exchange Commission
of my country. Recently, the National Assembly (Senate) passed into law
a bill giving the Executive Arm the authority to convert all unclaimed dividends
between 1983 to date in both the public and financial sector of the economy
to the ownership of the nation thus all such dividends be credited to the
consolidated Federation account as a means of generating revenue for the
execution of government projects (see Vanguard newsreel of 10th june 2004).
Consequently, the Finance Ministry in a memo dated 14th june 2004 to the
President of the Stock exchange Commission directed that all such unclaimed
dividends be declared and forwarded to the office of the director of public
utilities of the federation within a stipulated time.

By my position as a stock broker, i have so many of such unclaimed dividends
that i manage and sequel to this law, i tried making contact with the stock
owners both locally and internationally though, some responded and have
started making claims to their dividends, but others have not responded.
On further investigation, i discovered that those yet ot respond have either
died or that the public/private enterprise by a decree of the military government
of 1989 have been liquidated. The bulk of the shares available to me now
belongs to Late Mrs. Louisa Tara Arevalo a contractor with a multinational
corporation in Nigeria who died in a motor accident.

The above explains my reason for contacting you as i propose that you assit
me in claiming these dividends by applying as either the original owner
(depositor) or her next of kin. All the documentary evidence of deposit
are in my possession which i will be forwarding to you as soon as you accept
my proposal. The total stock available to me is valued at 23,700,000.00
( Twenty three million seven hundred thousand) British Pound Sterling which
on approval will be credited into any bank account of your choice any where
in the world while i have proposed the sharing ratio at 30% for you and
the remaining 70% for me.

There is no risk involved especially with my position as the original stock
broker of the unclaimed dividend beneficiaries moreover, we shall employ
the services of an attorney registered as a probate/estate legal practicioner
with my country's National Judicial Commission to assit us in processing
all the relevant documents of claim to ensure that we do not breach the
law of the nation on unclaimed dividends. Should you therefore accept this
proposal of a mutually beneficial transaction, you shall be required to
make an official application to the Stock Exchange Commission stating that
due to ill-health and the unconducive atmosphere in my country during the
military era you returned back to your country and was only recently notified
by your stock broker of the latest development hence your application. In
fact i will provide you with the specimen of the application.

Thank you for treating this matter as very urgent and confidential while
your indication of interest should be via my private email address: will_ar_rahmani2004@nyc.com
or wr1@irangate.net

Regards,

Wilson ar-Rahmani
