"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Hello Winter

Dear Winter,
It is my pleasure contacting you now, as I have been waiting for
this opportunity.
I am Barr. Emeka Geogre, the personal attorney to Mr David Winter, (whom
I would refere to as my client (late) hereafter a nationale of
your country.
Mr Winter had died six months ago, after a brief illness at
University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital Enugu and was buried at
the state cemetry, as his relatives could not be traced.
My late client had undertaken a life insurance policy while in
Nigeria, with TransAfrica Insurance Company, (Policy No.
TAI/1819/89) of which the benefits now amounts to $4.5 million.
(Four million, five hundred thousand United States Dollars). He
had paid all the necessary premiums required to keep the policy
in force before his death. The policy was maintained for fifteen
years and his death was not as a result of any suspicious
circumstance. Also, all the informations on his death
Certificate corresponds to all other informations he gave while
applying for the policy and there was no material
misrepresentation made by my late client in connection with the
insurance policy. As such, his beneficiary is liable to be paid
all benefits in full.
Since the death of my late client, I have made several efforts
to his named beneficiary with they contact infomations supplied,
but it was fruitless.
I am now contacting you now because you bear exactly the same
first and last names as the named beneficiary.
Right now, I want to present you as the original beneficiary to
this policy, so that the benefits of this policy will be paid to
you by the insurance company since the actual beneficiary is not
aware of this policy and cannot be contacted, and for the fact
that you bear thesame name with the named beneficiary. We shall
share the proceeds equally thereafter.
My Good friend, I have all the necessary documents ready here to
enable us make this claim. I assure you that there is no risk
involved, because you may not be required to appear phisically
at the insurance company before the Money is paid to you.
Please, do consider this and get back to me.
I look forward to hearing from you soonest. Thank you very much
and may God bless you.

Best Regards,
EMEKA GEOGRE (Esq)
