"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

From:Ruth Konah
Asylum Camp,Abidjan,
Cote d'Ivoire.

Dear,
I am contacting you based on the believe that you are capable of giving
me a helping hand.
But first let me introduce myself. I am Ruth Konah, the only daughter of
Mr.Patrick Konah,a personal aid to Mr Charles Taylor, former president of
Liberia.During hisplanned exit from power,my father who is as well a cordinator
of some secret export business that he was doing was assisinated due to
some misunderstanding between him and Mr president over the sharing of some
business assets and proceeds. At the event of my father's mysterious assasination,I
was scared that my life is in danger due to the manner Mr President normally
deals with the families of any opposing force to him.I quickly took all
my fathers personal effects and escaped to Abidjan, capital city of Ivory
Coast which has common border with our country and sought for refuge.
I inherrited from my late father ($8.5 million US Dollars)deposited in a
suspence account with a bank here in Abidjan as the next of kin to the deposit.I
have verified this deposit with the said bank. I appeal to you to be my
guardian, and foster parent and to help me get this money transfered into
your account for investment in your country. As you may be already aware
by now, this country (Cote D?Ivoire) is presently at political crises. Rebels
have already taken over the whole Northern part of the country and making
efforts towards the capture of the commercial center of the country, Abidjan,
where I am now. For this ugly development in this country, I have now decided
to take quick actions and have this money transfered out of this country
before it is too late to do that and use it for investment purpose like
real estate management or hotel management
I also plead that you help me resettle my life in your country to further
my education because I am suffering here in the Asylum camp. I promise to
keep to any mutual agreement we might reach as regards to your financial
compensation if you sincerely help me,but I am ready to give you 15% of
the total amount as your own part for your efforts.
I will give you more details as soon as we recieve a reply from you.Contact
me via (ruthkonah@yahoo.com)
Pls I would like you to keep this message very confidential to yourself
even if you do not want to help me.This is for my security and that of the
money as this country is very close to mine.
Thanks and Godbless.
Yours faithfully.
Ruth Konah
