"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

OPTIMUM LOTTERY, UK
Ref. Number: 639/898/002
Batch Number: 430456543-DD23

Sir/Madam,

We are pleased to inform you of the result of the Lottery Winners
International programs held on the 31st of December 2004. Your e-mail
address attached to ticket number 278541465006-4872 with serial Number
1772-554 drew lucky numbers 5-14-18-23-33-39 which consequently won in the
1st category, you have therefore been approved for a lump sum pay of
€500,000.00 (Five Hundred Thousand Euros only)
CONGRATULATIONS!!!
Due to some controversial numbers and email addresses, we ask that you keep

part of our security protocol to avoid double claiming and unwarranted abuse
