"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From Mathias Tanoh
ABIDJAN COTE D'IVOIRE

Dear Respectful one,

May I please use this opportunity expressing this condition of mine to
you as I believe that GOD ALMIGHTY will use you to get me out fron this
situation.
I am Mathias Tanoh the only surviving son of late Mr. Bakko. Tanoh. My Father
was a very wealthy cocoa and Gold merchant in Abidjan , the economic capital
of Ivory coast, my Father was poisoned to death by his business associates
on one of their outings on a business trip .

My Father died on august 2002 in a private hospital here in Abidjan before
his death he secretly called me on his bed side and told me that he lodged
the sum of of sixteen million ,five hundred and eighty five thousand United
State Dollars. USD ($16.585,000) left in a Bank here in Abidjan Cote D'ivoire
with my name as the next of kin, so because of the political problem here
now that cost the death of many people since 19th september 2002(a month
after the death of my father) here cote d'ivoire, then i decided to seek
for a foreign partner/guidian who will help me in transferring the money
out of Africa for investment purpose/our education career under his care
since i am a little boy also ignorant of investment.
He also explained to me that it was because of his wealth that he was poisoned
by his business associates. That I should seek for a foreign partner in
a country of my choice as to invest the money wisely that is my reason
of chosing and seeking for your assistance to this effet.

Therefore, I am honourably seeking your assistance in the following ways:

(1) To provide a bank account into which this money will be transferred
to.
(2) To act as my guardian to this fund since I am only 16 years old and
my younger sister 12.
(3) To make arrangement for us to come over to your country to further
our education and to secure a resident permit in your country.

I am willing to offer you 15% of the total sum as compersation for your
effort/ assistance after the successful transfer of this fund into your
nominated bank account overseas. I know and believe that you will help
us out from this problem so as to get on with our education my most important
problem.

Anticipating to hear from you soon.

Thanks and God bless.

Best regards,

Mathias Tanoh
