"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Fellow,

I am Desmond Kamara the only son of late Dr.Johnson Kamara the former
Director of finance in the Sierra-Leone diamond and mining corporation.
I must confess my agitation is real, and my words is my bond, I wish to
bring to your notice this proposal of mine. In our position is an inheritance
of ours which is deposited with a prime BANK here in Abidjan, where we
are residing under political Assylum with my younger sister Gift.

It is on this note that we are contacting you, all we needed from you
is to furnish
us with your bank particulars:
1) Account name(2) Account number
3) Bank address, telephone and fax numbers
4) your private telephone /fax numbers

We wish to let you know that we will appreciate all your assitance
to the tune of 20% of the total amount. We left it in your position to source
an investment we can establish with this money. Every other details will
be disscussed in due course. We anticipate your positive response to this
mail.
