"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Compliments ofthe day to You,

This is an urgent and desperate call for help. Im the chief book keeper of the ministry of finance of the thiny west african nation of Togo. As you are already aware, we just lost our long serving president to the cold hands of death. President Gnassingbe Eyadema was the longest
serving president in Africa having served for 38yrs.
With the death of the president, the speaker of the house of assembly constitutionally is supposed to assume the post of president till general elections are held . But the commander of the countrys armed forces illegally collaborated with top elements of the armed forces to install the presidents son Fauvre Eyadema as the next president , This was to assure continuity and to cover up the ills of the past 38yrs.
We are apprenhensive of the speaker becoming the president and thereby calling for general elections that may sweep the opposition to power .This will have repercusions in the form of the opposition when successful, in the elections calling for a general probe of all the Gnassingbe loyalists.
Having installed the late presidents son as the next president, the African union is making things complicated by calling the installation illegal and unconstitutional .We are then afraid that this call may get attention in the general public, thereby leading to discontent amongst the populace and the present caotic situation today in LOME-TOGO.
As the chief accountant,of the finance ministry, I have make a quick move before the situation snow-balls. I have in my possession some funds that I want to quickly move out from Africa before a nasty situation will envolve. This money is what I secretly kept aside from over invoiced contracts and other transactions of the TOGO COTONOU highway construction. The fund is in excess of $14,5million. Beside the fears of the speaker becoming president, the president,s son is a 39 yrs old man of tantrum and we have always been at loggershead. He may want to get his pound
of flesh because I was very close to the presidency as the chief accountant of the Finance ministry. If you are interested in this transaction and willing to help me with TRUST, contact me on this e-mail address for further discussions on the modalities on how this money can be transfered to your account from the bank where it is kept under fixed suspence account in my name. I have the Original agreement certificate in my name at the time of Deposite.
Pleasa note that you will have a good percentage share of thsi money once you have acepted to assist me in transfering it through your bank account in your country.
This transfer is 100% risk free and I am counting on your urget co operation.
Best Regards,
Laurent.k.Armah.
