"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From: "HUGO KABILA" <hugo_kabila@k.ro> (may be fake)
Date: Wed, 9 Mar 2005 13:44:42 +0300
Subject: FROM GHANA

ATTN/BUYERS, My name is MR HUGO.KABILA An agent and
consultant of miners corporative in Ghana ,Cote
d'Ivoire and Burkina Fasso,where Gold and Diamond are
being mined. We have quantities of Gold Au Dust now
for sale. Gold A.U. dust of 22 carats. Quantity : 630
Kgs. Purity : 996 / one thousand.twenty two carats).
Price :5,750 E, (five thousands seven hundred and
fifty euros/per Kg). After testing the products and be
satisfied ,the payment will be made and the goods will
be cargoed to the country of your choice by the
authorities. Buyer is requested on his likings to come
with his testing tools. Note:The quantity can be
changed as the days goes by.
