"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: URGENT

Dear Friend,
I greet you as i hope this mail finds you well.My name is Mr. Nomvette
Cole,40, divorced with three kids and currently working in a Mine in Africa.
I obtained your email from the internet, while searching for a reliable, person,
who could assist me in receiving a cash prize from a bet money lotto.
My prize is about to be paid to me as a result of been a winner of a
lottery game in London,England.I was in Canada in April 2002 and had
the chance to buy and play a lottery game.I am currently working in africa.I
have been participating in the lottery game which did not allow willing participants
from Asia or Africa to play but only England,Canada and US
residents. I was able to play the game after i claimed to reside in Canada. This
is my third year of participating in lottery game and eventualy winning for
the first time.I dont want this oppurtunity of getting such a prize of $50,000
blown away just like that that is why i seek urgent assistance of a honest
and trust worthy person in US or Canada to stand for me in receiving this
money.

On my part, all modalities will be worked out in ensuring a smooth conclusion
of the transfer to you within the next five days. All I want from you is
your
details to enable the lottery firm forward the cash prize to you on my behalf

You will be entitled to 20% of that sum if you receive the check or money
document and have it cashed on my behalf ;afterwards send me my part(80%)
of the money. It will be made available in 10 days from now as i have been
notified as a winner. So please i need an urgent reply so as to enable me
send the name of the beneficiary to them as early as possible. So i hope not
to get a reply from residents of England as i didnt state Europe as my location
with the lottery office;but America/Canada.
Please note that there will be no financial obligation required from you
in receiving it on my behalf. As soon as you indicate your interest, further
instructions will be passed on to you on the procedure that we will follow
in accomplishing this.

I will stop here for now as it took me almost one hour to type this
letter,as i am not a fast typer.Kindly reach me immediately via my confidential
e-mail at noveltybingo1@netscape.net .Looking forward to hearing from you.
Thank you and remain Blessed,
Mr.N. Cole
