"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

CONFIDENTIAL INVESTMENT PROPOSAL

Dear Friend,

I write you with great expectation of your kind consideration; hence I
have taken courage to address you as a Friend as I expect your hand in
friendship. As we do not know each other and have not had any sort of
communication in the past, my letter may not be acceptable but I ask you
to take this letter very seriously, and consider that it will be of
immense benefit to you.

I am a Haitian and was formerly the chief campaign manager to former
President. JEAN-BERTREND ARISTIDE of Haiti and I was also a personal aid
to the Minister of Finance and Economy in the depose administration of
Pres.Aristide .I am presently in repuublic of south africa on political asylum due to a
tragic incident that happened to me.

I absconded with some substantial amount (US$10.5MILLION) of Money
which was part of the money that was initially meant for campaigning for
President Jean-Bertrend Aristide re-election into office before the
recent crisis that led to his depose from office.

I have been here for only a little time, and since I do not have the
permit to conduct business, I am hoping you will be a trustworthy and
reliable person to handle this for me as a partner. Also the need to be
discreet in having investments set up in my name has necessitated the
need for me to seek for your help in this regard.

You will be entitled to a very significant part of the funds for
rendering me your most needed assistance. I earnestly await your response to
my proposal via my private email address above so that I can
give you more details.

I wish you and your family all the best.

Your prospective friend.
