"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: From Evelyn Williams.

Dear Sir,

Compliment of the day, I am Evelyn Williams, the daughter of George
Williams. I will not be surprise for any reaction you will give to this
mail, I am very much aware of the likes of the mails of this nature. I must
let you know that I did go through a search before I chose to come to you.
I am from Sierra Leone, but I am residing at Abidjan Cote d'Ivoire
were my late father operated on gold and diamond business before he met
his death. My mother died when I was barely three years.

As odd as it may be to the situation of things today, I wish to bring
to your notice an inheritance I inherited from my late father, this is to
the tone of four million US dollars. This fortune is stored and deposited
by my late father in a finance security firm as a personal effects at Europe,
since the 15th
June 2003.


I come to you for a purpose of investing this money anywhere in the
world that will be conducive for us. I need You to help me to retrieve this
money from the security company at Europe. Details will be discussed in
due course.


I obliged you to subject this request to any scrutiny that will respect
our personalities, I am looking forward to receiving your reply soon. Thanks
for your anticipated co-operation.
