"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Greetings,

You may be surprised to receive this unsolicited mail as it may appear to
be. Sorry to bother you any way.

I am Mr. Sese Kazu the personal assistant (Finance) to the late President
Gnassingbé
Eyadéma of Lome,Togo. In order to avoid any long meaningless talk, I am
looking for a person who can be TRUSTED to handle part of the money the
late President wanted to go and deposit in Switzerland three weeks before
he died. The money was kept in a Security Company for safe keeping.

I am presently in a neibouring country Cote D' Iovire (Ivory Coast) due
to the problem on whom will be the next prsident and because of this there
is no peace in my country right now.

You can readh me through this telephone line or email me back as soon
as you recieve this letter to enable me give you further details.

I wait for your quick reponse to my proposal.

d'une personne DIGNE DE CONFIANCE pour prendre charge d'une partie de l'argent
que le défunt président voulait faire déposer en Suisse trois semaines avant
sa mort. L'argent a été gardé dans une société de valeurs mobilières pour
des raisons évidentes de sécurité. Je suis actuellement dans un pays voisin,
la Côte d'Ivoire en raison des problèmes de succession que vit le Togo.
