"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: FROM MARIAM

My Dear,

I am Mariam Abacha, widow to the former military head of state of NIGERIA,late
general Sani Abacha, who died suddenly as a result of cardiac arrest.

Note that he deposited US$20,000,000.00 (twenty million us dollars
only)in a private security company in(DAKAR)the capital of SENEGAL and the
consignment containing the fund was deposited by his personal assistance
who is also dead,Note that the consignment were deposited as containing
family valuables (family effects)for security reasons and the family intends
to invest the fund with you to enable the family to start life all over
again in your country.

I got your contact address from our chamber of commerce and industry office
in Lagos, Nigeria. If the proposal is acceptable to you, after getting the
consignment containing the fund out of the security company to your country,my
family have agreed to offer you 25% of the total sum for the assistance
you rendered to us and bank the family's own part of the funds and assist
us in investing it(with my approval)in a project and from there we can discuss
the way forward.
