"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Friend,

I guess this mail may come to you as a surpprise since we have not met,I
am the chairman Project Implementation Committee Independent National Electoral
Commission (INEC) I got
your contact through the International Trade office of the Nigeria Chamber
of Commerce in the course of my search for a prudent and reliable person
with whom to handle a very confidential transaction involving the transfer
of fund value at Twenty-Two Million Two Hundred Thousand United States Dollars.
(US$22.2M) into a safe foreign account.

The above fund in question is not connected with drugs, terrorism, arms
or money laundering. It is the product of over-invoice on contract awarded
by Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to a foreign firm for
the supply of electoral materials that was used for conducting this last
election held April' 2003, which gave President Olusegun Obasanjo the second
term in the office.

The contract had long been executed and commissioned. Payment of the actual
contract amount has been made to the original contractor, hence, the contractor
leaving the the over-invoice of (US$22.2M) in a dormant account as being
discussed, which I now decided to transfer from Nigeria into a reliable
and eligible foreign account for my use.

As civil servants we do not posses necessary foreign account machinery to
successfully handle this transaction, therefore it becomes necessary to
source for a foreign company/individual with capability to act as the origin
beneficiary of the contract.

My dear, it is a good thing the President Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, has long
ago endorsed the resolution passed by the senate that all foreign contractors
owed by the federal government of Nigeria should be paid without further
delay. I seize this good opportunity to propose or portray you as one of
the beneficiaries to be paid.

If you are interested in the proposal please kindly get back to me as soon
as possible by sending me your response of acceptance along with your personal
and direct telephone and fax numbers through my own personal email where
this mail is coming from! But if you cannot for any reason handle this transaction,
I shall be grateful and urge you if you can introduce a reliable and trust
worthy person I can deal with in which your interest will be taken care
of. Meanwhile, I have decided to share the money in the following ratio;
65% for me 25% for you as account owner 10% for all local and international
expenses that may arise in the course of this transaction.

Therefore, all the documents that will back up this fund into your account
will be obtained from the various ministries that are involved and send
to you for your perusal and we shall be able to finalize this with within
14 working days on your reciprocation, when once the fund get in to your
account I shall arrive your country for disbursement and further establishment.

I am waiting to hear from you soonest.

Yours Sincerely,
Chris ubah
Chairman
