"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

DR. AFONSO E. KEFVASA,
DEPARTMENT OF OIL & DOWNSTREAM SECTOR,
RUA CERQUEIRA LUKOKI, 25
LUANDA,
REPÚBLICA DE ANGOLA.
17th JUNE, 2005.

DEAR FRIEND,

REQUEST FOR YOUR URGENT ATTENTION

I, On behalf of my colleagues from different Ministries of Angola owned
parastatals decided to seek your urgent assistance as regards transfer of
US$41,500,000.00(Forty One Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States
Dollars).

The funds in question emanated from unclaimed contractual proceeds of
foreign contracting firms executing in favor of the Angolan Oil National
Corporation, SONANGOL, Who could not resolve their financial obligations to
their creditors in Angola. As holders of sensitive positions in our
government, we were mandated to scrutinize all payments made to foreign
contractors within the last fiscal year (2003-2004). In the course of our
work we discovered that some contractors are yet to be paid their
entitlements, which collectively left a gross sum of US$41,500,000.00(Forty
One Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States Dollars) lying in a
suspense account with our Apex bank.

However, from our research, we discovered that the foreign beneficiary
companies have since been liquidated and to all intents and purposes no
longer exist in Angola, thus providing us with this opportunity, In as much
as I have a capable partner to execute a transaction of this magnitude.
Consequently, My colleagues and I are willing to transfer the total amount
to an account provided by a reliable foreign firm/associate for subsequent
sharing, This is because as serving government workers (Civil servants) we
are prohibited by the code of conduct bureau i.e. Civil Service Law from
operating foreign accounts in our names unless after retirement.

In view of the foregoing, It is quite apparent that we require a partner
that is not only competent of rendering assistance and co-operation in
executing this matter, but will honor the terms of agreement when we reach
the concluding stages of this transaction. I believe you will be viable and
capable to champion a business of such magnitude without any problem,
Needless to say, the trust reposed on you at this juncture is enormous, In
return, you will be entitled to 30% of the transferred sum as gratification
for services/assistance rendered, while 10% will be set aside for incidental
expenses (Internal and External) that may arise between both parties in the
course of the transaction and you will be mandated to remit the 60% to other
accounts for me and my partners in due course.

Modalities have been worked out perfectly at the utmost level of the Bureau
of Finance and the National Bank of Angola for the immediate transfer of the
funds within 10-14 working days subject to your satisfaction of the above
stated terms. Our assurance is that your role is risk free to accord this
transaction the legality it deserves and for mutual security of the funds
the whole approval procedures will be officially and legally processed with
your name or the name of any company you may nominate as the bonafide
beneficiary.

Kindly signify your intention to assist by sending me an email for further
informations and procedures relating to this project. Once more I quite
believe that you will protect our interest by taking this proposition
strictly confidential, as we are still active in government service, which
we intend to retire from soon.

I look forward to your prompt response.

Thanks and God bless,
Dr. Afonso E. Kefvasa
