"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: RE: Good Morning, Reply

Dear Sir,
Good morning to you and how are you? My name is Greg Konan, the Son of Mr. Coulibally Konan a wealthy cocoa merchant in the northern part of Cote d’Ivoire who was killed during the November 2004 war. My late father deposited the sum of Ten Million Dollars ($10M) but as you know, being a young boy of 19years it will be difficult for me to manage this fund here in Africa even without my refugee statues here in Senegal, where I ran to for the safety of my life.

In fact, I do not know where to start on managing this fund because I've not been into any investment or business before, that is the most reason why I contacted you for an assistance on retrieving and investing of the said fund to your country under your custody, knowing fully well that based on your wide experience in transactions the fund will be perfectly and wisely managed or handled by you without letting me down.

We will also draft in the future a biding agreement that will protect our both interest regarding this gesture.

I will stop here until hearing from you.
Yours truly,
Greg Konan.
