"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Dear Sir,

CONGRATULATIONS

I hope my letter would not embarrass you since we have not had any previous
correspondence. Well I am the chairman NDDC (Niger Delta Development Commission)
set up by the federal government of Nigeria in 1999.This seven-man commission
was drawn from representatives of the seven oil producing states in Nigeria.
NDDC was set up as a result of agitation by oil producing state of total
neglect of their areas by the federal government. NDDC was inaugurated and
established by decree 23 of 1999 by this present democratic government. The
commission receives and administers the 2% of the total oil revenue allocation
to the areas from the federal account to rehabilitate and develop the oil
producing states.

December last year, the commission received a total sum of N10.4 billion
(about US$480 million) for the 2003 capital development projects being the
2% of the 2002 total annual revenue from the federal government.

For the 2003 capital development project, we the members of NDDC have decided
to spend a total sum of US$437.4 million and have deposited the remaining
US$42.6 million in a security company in Europe as a personal effect. We
therefore, would want to present you as the beneficiary of this money so
that you can claim this money on our behalf since we are still serving government
officials. We will offer you 20% of the total money for your assistance,
5% will be used in the resettlement of expenses to be incur in the course
of this process, while the balance money shall be kept for us pending our
arrival into your country for investment into a profitable venture to be
recommended to us by you.

It would only take a few days to get all the authorizing papers intact and
the business materializes. Meanwhile, be rest assured that a very good arrangement
has been made here for a hitch-free claim of this money. Also your area of
specialization is not a hindrance to the successful execution of this transaction.

Suffice it to add at this point that the information thus revealed to you
is HIGHLY CONFIDETIAL and should not be treated with LEVITY. We do not intend
to compromise our position at any as we are highly placed and respected members
of the Nigerian public.
If this proposal appeals to you as we hope it would, please revert back to
me immediately through this email address onyemaugochukwu112@govzone.com
indicating your interest and also send to us your private tel/fax numbers
for quick, regular, easy and confidentiality of this business. This business
is risk free as I look forward to your early response hoping very well. That
you will help us bring this business to fruition.

Best regards,

Dr. Onyema Ugochukwu
