"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Attn:Walter

This letter is not intended to cause any embarrassment in whatever form, rather
it is intended to contact your esteemed self, following the knowledge of
your high repute and trustworthiness. Firstly, I must solicit your confidentiality.I
know that a proposal of this magnitude will make anyone apprehensive and
worried, but I am assuring you that it is made in good faith and will be
of mutual benefit to both of us.

I am Barrister.Igbaji Michael, a Solicitor at law. I am the personal attorney
to Mr.Kenneth Walter, a nationality of your country, who use to work for
an Ivorien based public international firm (AXIM RDC),. Here after, shall
be referred to as my client. On the Late last year October 2003, the Rebels
in my Country after killing our President late Guei Robert Gunamo, struck
his home and killed my client, his wife and their three children. This was
due to his close relationship with our president. Since then I have made
several enquiries to your embassy to locate any of my clients extended relatives, this
has also proved successful.

After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name
over the internet, to locate any member of his family hence I contacted
you. I have contacted you to assist in repatriating the money and property
left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable
by the security company where this huge deposits was lodged.they have issued
me a notice to provide the next of kin to my client or have the fund confiscated
within the next ten official working days. The total amount is about Eigtheen
Million, Five Hundred Thousand United States dollars(US$18.5million) .

Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 3years
now I seek your consent to present you as the Next of Kin of the deceased
so that the proceeds of this account valued at (USD18.5M) can be paid to
you and then you and me can share the money.50% to me and 30% to you. I have
all necessary legal documents that can be used to back up any claim we may
make. All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us seeing this
deal through. I guarantee that this will be executed under a legitimate arrangement
that will protect you from any breach of the law.

Note: My client informed me that this fund was giving to him by the president
of our country when the rebels entered the capital city.He asked him to
deposit it in a Foreign account in his country, which he was unable to do
before his death. This fund is in a security company in my country and nobody
knows about it except me and the Financial manager of the company. He also
agreed to work with us in return we will give him 20% of the total fund.I
will be glad if you will be of asistance.

Best Regards,
Barrister Igbaji Michael
