"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: Family Treasures

Compliments of the day.

This is a true story, and I must solicit your strictest confidence in this transaction and I pray that my decision to contact you will be given a genuine approval considering the fact that we have not known each other. Before I proceed, I would wish to use this opportunity to introduce myself to you .

I am Mr. Lauren Selormey from Ghana, West Africa. I am writing to inform you of the death of Mr Victor Selormey (my uncle), former Deputy Minister of Finance,

at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra on Monday 18th April 2005. Mr Selormey (my uncle) had been fighting a serious cardiac problem for a very long time and had been on a pacemaker.

Mr Selormey (my uncle) who was granted repri eight-year jail sentence in March was expected to be flown abroad for special heart surgery.

Two or three weeks later after their release, Mr Selormey was taken home to prepare to fly abroad. But the situation had deteriorated. He was rushed to hospital in a bad state and he died that morning.

President John Agyekum Kufuor on March 3 remitted the remainder of the sentence imposed on Mr Kwame Peprah, Former Minister of Finance and Mr Victor Selormey, Former Deputy Minister of Finance to commemorate the 48th anniversary of Independence.

Before his death he revealed to my aunt and I about a deposit he made with a security company containing $12.6million and 150kilos of raw gold for safekeeping as family treasure. My uncle did not disclose any of the content of the boxes to the security company to avoid the officials from raising eyebrows to the consignment.

We want to notify the security company for the claims, but I want you to give me information on how best we can invest and to buy a living house in your country, because my uncle told me that it is dangerous to invest in Africa to avoid suspicions, and due to market instability coupled with economic and political instability facing African countries, considering all this fact and the high economic growth in your country that is why we want to invest in your country.

For your mutual assistance in actualizing this our objective, my aunt and I have agreed to offer you 25% of the total. All the vital documents covering the deposit and the ownership are intact with our family attorney, which will be sent to you on your notifying us of your willingness to assist.

Note, you have to keep this information as a top secret to yourself. Also I will want you to forward across to me your direct Address, Tel/Fax number for more information about this transaction.

I am waiting for your urgent and positive feedback.

Best regards,

Lauren Selormey
