"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: A GREAT OPPOTUNITY FOR YOU

FROM HONORABLE MALLAM BELLO

THE CHAIRMAN CONTRACT AWARD COMMITTEE

FEDERAL GOVERNMENT OF NIGERIA

GOVERNMENT HOUSE ABUJA.

Attn: Dear

How are you today? Let me start from introducing myself to you, I am
Honorable Mallam Bello the chairman contract award committee federal
Government of Nigeria we have an up coming contract that we are about to
award and it is 5,000 pieces of sharp digital lab top and my reason of
contacting you is because I have interest in this contract I, and two of my
colleague want to over invoice the contract sum and we will need a foreigner
outside Nigeria to execute this contract so that is will be very easy for us
to collect our own part of the fund without any probe or black mail from
anybody or the federal government, if not we have a lot of foreign and
indigenous contractors here in Nigeria but we don’t want any Nigerian based
contractor for this contract so that we will not be at risk when the time
will come for us to collect our said fund.

The sharp digital lab top have been estimated for $5200.00 each and will be
awarded to you at the rate of $5200.00 each then we will add our own amount
of $1,500.00 to make it a total sum of$6,700.00 each.

And for this reason after series of meetings we have decided to find a
foreigner to forward and award the contract on his or her behalf so that
after the execution of the contract, I will give you my account number for
you to remit the said over invoiced sum into my account without anybody here
in Nigeria knowing or hearing about it this is the reason why we need non
Nigerian based contractor for this contract any amount that you may realise
from the contract i am not interested but where I have interest is on the
over invoiced sum of which i will not want to share with you it is only for
me and my colleagues.

Another good news is that their is a possibility of you applying for
mobilization fee of 50% of the total sum after the contract have been
awarded to you and you have collected the contract award letter, then the
balance of the fund will be paid to you after the execution of the contract
if you find interest in this proposal do not hesitate to reply me
immediately before i make another contact.

Truly yours

Honorable Mallam Bello

Chairman Contract Award Committee

Federal Government of Nigeria.
