"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: KIND INTENTION REQUIRED

Hello,

With due respect, I write you this proposal, which I
believe would be of great interest to you, I found
your contact while I was doing a private research
through a chamber of commerce for a reliable and
capable foreign partner that will assist my sister and
I. My names are Jonathan Tapuwa, the surviving male
child of Dannis Tapuwa of Zimbabwe.

I would be 22 years old by December this year. During
the current war against farmers in Zimbabwe and from
support of President Robert Mugabe to claim all white
owned farm lands in our country, all white farmers
were ordered to surrender their farm lands to his
party members and his followers. My Father who was one
of the best farmers in our country and treasurer of
the farmers union did not support his idea and so the
party members invaded my Father's farm and burnt
everything in the farm, killed my parents and my elder
brother who would have graduated this year as a
medical doctor and made away with a lot of items in my
Father's farm.

After the death of my Father, precisely in the Month
of February 2002, I and my younger sister (Yvonne)
decided to move out of Zimbabwe because we feared our
lives were in danger. The amount my Father had
deposited in a Financial Company in Europe before he
was killed was US$20,000,000.00 (Twenty Million United
States Dollars Only). This money was meant for the
purchase of agricultural equipments/materials. I
cannot give out full details until I come to an
understanding that I have a reliable and trustworthy
partnership with you.

Owing to the turmoil being experienced by my family we
decided to move to the Republic of Botswana. When we
arrived Botswana we had become asylum seekers
(refugees) and now we have come to find out that our
life’s have suddenly been made difficult as the
Botswana Monetary Policy does not allow us as refugees
to operate bank accounts or make huge financial
investments. I cannot but contact you to be my foreign
partner and to help me and my sister in the transfer
of this money as it is all we have and hope on now.

I would be very grateful if you can have the kindness
to help us. I am willing to let you suggest what will
be your percentage of the total sum for helping us
transfer this money out to your country and you will
reimburse your expenses from the money. If you can
help us invest in your country and also assist us in
securing good universities for me and my sister for us
to further our studies, we would forever be grateful
to you.

Please be informed that I do not have a telephone here
and as such I do not have regular access to telephone
services, I do however have access to the internet
here even though it is very minimal.

Please do try to keep this confidential and to
yourself alone because of our security where we are
presently taking refuge. I shall be waiting to hear
from you as soon as possible.

Best Regards,

Jonathan Tapuwa.
