"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Read more about such scams here or in our 419 FAQ. Use the Scam-O-Matic to verify suspect emails.

Subject: DONATION FOR CHARITY,

This message should under no circumstance be construed
for a deal, as it is not, but it is purely for
Charity.

What shall it profit me to gain power, money and fame
in this world, but lose my Soul? Permit me to share my
testimony with you; having found your email through
the internet directory, I have decided to contact you
to help reach out to charities, the needy, poor and
oppressed.

I am Mr. Buhari Ibrahim 55 years of age, and happily
married with 4 good children. I am the personal
accountant to MR. SMITH SHAW, (a foreigner) who died
in a tragic bomb blast that wrecked the city of Lagos
Nigeria. Mr. Smith a business mogul and a
philanthropist was an international consultant to the
Nigerian Airways here in Nigeria.

More of the Lagos Tragedy bomb blast can be confirmed
on;

My client, before his death kept in a fixed deposit,
basic checking account the sum of $15m. (FIFTEEN
MILLION UNITED STATES DOLLARS) in a private bank,
Financial Trust Bank of Nigeria. After a year the
money was due for payment, the bank tried to contact
him to come for the claims of his money, but
discovered himself and Family died in the tragedy bomb
blast. Hence, this money is presently unclaimed.

Being the accountant of this man, the bank contacted
me, and told me to find a way to get the funds out of
the bank, since his bank official papers, showed I was
his personal accountant. But this money does not
belong to me, and I can not claim it for my personal
use.

As a man of integrity, having worked hard for all I
have, I believe a dollar worked for is far better than
100 dollars found. For this reason, I have decided to
contact you, and involve you in this, so that you can
apply for the claims of these funds, and donate it to
any CREDIBLE AND TRUST WORTHY charity of your choice,
such as those who care for the recent Asian Tsunami
Disaster, Aids Research, and Orphanage homes etc. This
country of ours is so corrupt that there are hardly
charity organizations to entrust with money. Being an
old man and almost due for retirement I will not be
able to do this alone and satisfactorily and also
because you are a foreigner, like Smith Shaw. If I do
not act fast, the bank stands the chance of inheriting
these funds, and using it for their selfish and greedy
purpose.

I know this might interrupt your daily business life,
and therefore I have decided to compensate you with
20% of the total funds so that you will not be tempted
to use it for your personal purpose, while the
remaining 80% goes out for the intended purpose.
(CHARITY)

If you are sincere and genuine hearted to help, kindly
reply me back through my personal email address on;
mrbuhari22@sify.com, and more details would be sent
to you.
Untill I hear from you,
Stay Blessed.
