"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Subject: APPEAL FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE

My Dear,
Good day to you. I would have contacted you through surface mail, but because
of time, I decided to reach you through email. Although you will be surprise
to receive this mail from me, but all the same, I humbly appeal for your
consent and understanding. My name is Mrs. Dorothy M. Eyadema, I am married
to the former president of Togo republic, His Excellency, Gnassingbe Eyadema.
He died on the February 5th, 2005, after ruling for 38yrs.

Two months ago, I received a letter from a bank in London (Nat west Bank
England). The letter was addressed to my late husband and the content of
the letter was about a fixed deposit account he has with the bank. I have
sent a letter to the bank, to inform them about the death of my husband and
I requested for the release of the fund to me as the widow of the diseased.
The bank manager replied me and demanded for my identity. So, I had to send
them my international passport and my marriage certificate through a courier
services company for confirmation. After their
investigation, the bank manager replied to inform that they are satisfied
with their findings and that they are now at my service to act according
to my wish. So, the bank is now waiting for me to give them instruction on
where to transfer the fund and this is one of my reasons for contacting you.

Since the death of my husband, President, Gnassingbe Eyadema, there have
been incessant hostilities spanning in the family over his assets. Last week
Saturday, the first wife and her son, Faure Eyadema who succeeded my late
husband as the new president of Togo republic, both came to my own apartment
with some security men and they forcefully took from me all the vital documents
in my position, including all my bank papers. They also took my marriage
certificate, my international passport and my driver?s license. They even
took my cell phone from me in order to frustrate me the more. Her son who
is now the new president, threatened that he will banish me from Togo, just
because I am not a Togolese by birth. In fact, I was really humiliated by
him.

However, I thank God they did not find any of the letters that was sent to
me from the bank in London. Due to my present condition here, I am soliciting
for your assistance to enable me transfer the sum of 3.5 Million Pounds,
that is deposited with the bank in London, before the first wife and her
son gets to know about it. This money is the only thing left for my
twin daughters and myself, it?s the only future hope for us. Please, help
us to secure this fund, while I look for a way to get out of here with my
daughters.

If you will be of any assistance, please reply as soon as possible, for me
to send you the vital information that you will need to receive the fund
from the bank on my behalf as the beneficiary. I am ready to give you half
of the whole money for your own personal use, if only you will assist me
in my present condition. I have reposed my whole trust on you, please don?t
disappoint me.

I am waiting for your urgent response.

Yours truly,
Mrs. Dorothy M. Eyadema.
