"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Hello Good day,

This letter is not intended to cause any embarrassment in whatever form,rather it is intended to contact your esteemed self,following the knowledge of your high repute and trust worthiness.Firstly,I must solicit your confidentiality. I know that a proposal of this magnitude will make anyone apprehensive and worried,but I am assuring you that it is made
in good faith and will be of mutual benefit.
I am Barrister George Kenny Utekebe a Lawyer based in United Kingdom. I am the personal attorney to [Mr. Kenneth], who used to work as a contract staff with Shell Development Company, London-U.K. Herein after shall be referred to as my client.On the 17th of April 2002, my client, his wife and their two children were involved in a fatal car accident along PLUMSTEAD EXPRESS ROAD, IN SOUTH EAST LONDON. All occupants of the vehicles unfortunately lost their lives. Since then I have made several inquiries to there embassy to locate any of my late clients extended relatives but this has proved unsuccessful. After these several unsuccessful attempts, I decided to track his last name over the Internet, to locate any member of his family hence I contacted you.
I have contacted you to assist in repatriating this money left behind by my client before they get confiscated or declared unserviceable by the Security company where this huge deposits were lodged.I am particularly interested in securing this contract fund balance with Federal Ministry of Finance (FMF),contract executed in the Nigerian National Petroluem Co-operation (NNPC), totaling 18.2 million UK Pounds sterling, which will be disclosed to you in receiptof your positive response to my letter. The total sum is 18.2 million UK Pounds sterling equivalent to $30,000,000.00 and above, depending on the exchange rate of the day.
The search for the deceased next-of-kin became imperative since the Finance House has issued me a notice to provide the next-of-kin or have the deposit confiscated after 30 working days, if not claimed and we have just little time left.
Since I have been unsuccessful in locating the relatives for over 3 years plus now, I seek your consent to present you as the next-of-kin of the deceased since you both bear the same last name so that the proceeds of this account valued at 18.2 Million UK Pounds, can be paid to you after which we can then share the money between us on agreeable percentage.I have all necessary legal documents that can be used to back up any claim we may make.
All I require is your honest co-operation to enable us see this deal through. I guarantee that I will provide all the necessary and legally obtained documents to back up any claim we make regarding this process, and will just require your understanding and cooperation to enable us achieve success within a legitimate arrangement,eliminating any liability resulting from any
