"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

From: "MIKE ZUMA" <mike_zuma110@hotmail.com>
Date: Wed, 24 Aug 2005 11:18:11 +0200
Subject: FROM MR.MIKE ZUMA OF GLOBAL MEGA LOTTERY SOUTH AFRICA

Attn:Akash,

you are required to present a legal representive person who will claim the
funds on your behalf and transfer to your account in your country, since you
are not residing in South Africa and I am sending to you the details of a
Lawyer who will do this for you.We the Lotto Company advice winners to use a
cerified Bank accredited Attorney and can direct you to a few that we know
and have worked with.

Please be adviced that your funds will be ready within the next 48 hours
pending when your legal representitive person will come.So what you have to
do now is to contact this Attorney right now the moment you have filled the
form
