"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Victims never receive this non-existent fortune but are tricked into sending their money to the criminals, who remain anonymous. They hide their real identity and location by using fake names and fake postal addresses as well as communicating via anonymous free email accounts and mobile phones.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.
Any real people or companies mentioned below have NO CONNECTION to the scammers!

Dear Nancy Roodhouse,
I write to acknowledge the receipt of the information you sent and to inform you that your
winning file has been forwarded to my office.In order for your cheque to be sent to you,
you are required to indicate the means by wihch the money should be sent to you.We have the
following options:Bank to Bank wire transfer or by a Certified International Bank Draft  pay
able to your Bank,This will be sent along with some Documents in our possession to your address
    However,you are to note that whatever option you may choose has a fixed fee attached to it and
that you will be responsible to offset the charges.
The Fist Option.
         This option would require the winning cheque been delivered to your address that you have provied
in your Country and you will in turn pay in the winning cheque into your private Bank account.
Below is the breakdown of your expected fee.

The Second Option.
    This option would require you to provied your nominated Bank account where your winning

   In this option you would be requested to pay for the cost of transfer (C.O.T) which w ill
   amount to £2000.
     The above sum will cover the delivery of all the vita Document to back-up the fact that the
money is from your winning the lottery because the amount in question is a huge sum and it is
expected that your Government would like to know the source of the funds,
The following would be sent to you:
1. WINNING CERTIFICATE FROM THE UK.NATIONAL LOTTERY.
2.  WINNERS CHEQUE FOR THE EXPECTED VALUE OF MONEY
3. ANTI-TERRORISM CERTIFICATE(A.T.C)
