"419" Scam – Advance Fee / Fake Lottery Scam

The so-called "419" scam is a type of fraud dominated by criminals from Nigeria and other countries in Africa. Victims of the scam are promised a large amount of money, such as a lottery prize, inheritance, money sitting in some bank account, etc.

Keep in mind that scammers DO NOT use their real names when defrauding people.
The criminals either abuse names of real people or companies or invent names or addresses.

ATTN:Sir/Madam

I do recognize the surprise this letter will bring to you as it comes from a
total stranger, considering the fact that my family does not have any
previous relationship with you. But it is rest assured as it comes with
genuine intentions.

My name is Mr. ANDY LUMKA I am the son of the late Capt. Michael LUMKA, from
Kono the diamond-rich District of Sierra Leone. My father was the General
Officer in Command (G.O.C) of the 1st mechanized armored division of the
Sierra Leone army, under the ousted head of state Major Jonny Paul Koroma,
who over-threw the government of Alhaji Tejan Kabba, which led to the
intervention of the West African Allied Forces (ECOMOG). During the war led
by the ex-head of state Major Johnny Koroma, my country relied on the
foreign earnings generated from diamond sales. The proceed was personally
kept by President Major Johnny Koroma, since the Sierra Leone Central Bank
system had collapsed as a result of war. His forces were in total control of
the diamond-rich district of Kono.

However, when it became very clear that Major Koroma and his forces were
going to lose the war to the West African Allied Forces. At this stage, the
key officers of Major Koroma's administration started making frantic effort
on how to leave Sierra Leone safely. This development led to the immediate
sharing of the proceeds from these diamond sales. In view of the fact that
my father was one of the key officer of Major Koroma, he succeeded in
acquiring the sum of US$15Million (FIFTEEN Million United States Dollars),
as his own share of the diamond proceed and other government funds.

As the superior forces of the ECOMOG advanced towards capturing the major
towns including Kono district, my father made arrangements and relocated my
family safely to Republic of South Africa, where we are currently living in
exile as Asylum Seekers. Unfortunately, after my father was diagnosed of
paralytic stroke in a specialist hospital here in South Africa. He was
rushed to St. Thomas Hospital London, where he later died of heart failure
after one month of our exile in South Africa.

The money is presently in a security company here in South Africa where my
father lodged it for safekeeping. I will be most grateful if you can assist
my family and I, to move this money out of South Africa and to invest it in
your country because we are not allowed to engage in certain investment
activities or to operate a bank account here as a refugee. Hence, we sought
to contact you for assistance. You will have to make arrangements to come to
South Africa to open a non-resident bank account, which will aid the smooth
transfer of this money into an overseas account that will be nominated by
you.

With your genuine and honest assistance, my family future will be secured.
We have agreed to offer you 20% of the total sum for your assistance, 10%
will be mapped out for local and international expenses that might be
incurred, 70% will be for my family investments in your country. Your
earliest confirmation and acceptance to assist us will enable us to conclude
this transaction without hitches. I await your urgent response. Yours truly,

Regard

ANDY LUMKA
